NEW FREEDIVING WORLD RECORD
F.R.E.E. is happy to announce that on June 5th, at 11:48 AM, in the waters off Kas, Antalya, a town located on Mediterranean coast of Turkey, a new Freediving World Record was established. David Lee, a 28 year old diver from Jamaica set the new record in the Unassisted Constant Ballast category for men. Mr. Lee reached a depth of 63 meters/207 feet in a total dive time of 2:05 minutes. This dive improves on the previous record of 60 meters/197 feet that was held by Topi Lintukangas.
The record was verified by F.R.E.E. judges Gianluca Cora (Italy) and Arthur Zaloga (Lithuania). Mr. Cora acted as surface judge where he verified compliance with all surface procedures and received the confirmation tag from the diver, and Mr. Zaloga was positioned at the goal depth where he witnessed the confirmation tag retrieval and verified compliance with all underwater procedures.
This is Mr. Lee’s 4th record in this category, having become the diver who set the first official record. F.R.E.E. congratulates David Lee on this remarkable accomplishment and wishes him continuous success in the future. We wish to thank the Organizing Committee for the hospitality extended to our judges and congratulate the Safety Diving team for a well done job.
